Experience the 7th Clark-Miyamit Falls Trail Ultra in Filinvest Mimosa+ Leisure City

Runner Rocky and my group Team Runner Rocky already conquered several races in the City of Pampanga. Yes, we already explored different part of the cities via different runs from a simple fun run like the color run, a competitive half marathon, and even the first ever so-called half ultramarathon.

This December, me and my relay buddy are set to run again in Pampanga for its first 60K ultramarathon depicting the town's Christmas Parol tradition. But before this another exciting race, a trail race will come first. Then what is this trail race all about that will hit the City of Clark?

Filinvest Mimosa+ Leisure City, the newest masterplanned business and leisure destination at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, is proud to play host to the 7th Clark-Miyamit Falls Trail Ultra. Also known as CM50, the event will be held on November 26, 2017.

The CM50 is the first major international sports event at Filinvest Mimosa+. This partnership marks the beginning of more exciting events to take place in the Filinvest-redeveloped leisure estate. The township’s enhanced layout incorporates an equally balanced space for infrastructure and green expanse that is significantly part of its vision of becoming a central zone for various industries and lifestyles.

The 7th Clark-Miyamit Falls Trail Ultra or CM50 is the first major international sports event at Filinvest Mimosa+ Leisure City in Clark, Pampanga

The CM50 has two challenging categories, the 60K and the 50 miles. Both distances kick off at the Filinvest Mimosa+, taking runners to an out-and-back course on a footpath connecting Clark to the scenic Miyamit Falls in Porac, Pampanga. Dubbed as the final race of the most demanding CM50 trail series and one of the 2017 Super Trails (Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia) of the Asia Trail Master Series, the CM50 offers scenic views and environs, beginning at the Filinvest Mimosa+, traversing the Sacobia River, Punning Spa, and Sitio Target. It goes up a dirt road covering a sugar cane plantation, which leads to Sitio Ebus and heads down the expansive Pasig-Portrero River. This route takes the runners towards a parallel dirt road along SCTEX and the Crow Creek, and they will pass through an AETA community going up the Miyamit Falls, the peak, and back to Clark.

The strict time barrier for the 50-mile race is 18 hours only, while the 60K participants should finish the race within 16 hours.  CM50 runners who finished within the tight time barrier for the 50-mile category rightfully earns the title "BAD ASS". The term "BAD ASS" was coined during the first edition of CM50 in 2011 to refer to the difficulty of the additional 20kms to make it a 50-mile course covering the hilly and rugged part from Aid Station 4 up to the peak, which is 3kms from the caldera of Mt. Pinatubo. No aid station is available beyond Aid Station 4, thus runners have to carry additional fuel and fluid, and the terrain is rolling, remote, and almost inaccessible. Runners, however, are treated to majestic views in the area.

As CM50’s official hotel partner, Quest Hotel – Clark offers exclusive rates for the participants valid from November 25 to November 27, 2017. Participants may avail of an overnight stay at a Deluxe Room for only P4,300 net. Those who wish to indulge in a breakfast buffet, in addition to the overnight stay at a Deluxe Room, will be given a special rate of P5,200 net.
