Jeremy Miado Aims To Sustain Winning Momentum At ONE: CALL TO GREATNESS

Fresh from one of his biggest wins as a mixed martial artist, Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado feels that he is at the highest point of his professional career.

Miado scored a highlight-reel victory in November 2018 after knocking out Peng Xue Wen of China in the second round of their three-round strawweight encounter at ONE: CONQUEST OF CHAMPIONS in Manila, Philippines.

The Filipino hard-hitter admitted that the adjustments and changes that he made have played a major role in his recent success inside the ONE Championship cage.

“Mentally and physically, I feel that I’m stronger than ever,” he said. “I had enough time to prepare for my last match against Peng, and it helped me a lot.”

“I started to acknowledge my weaknesses and then worked on them. I went to different gyms to develop my skills and even traveled abroad to train.”

"The Jaguar" was tenacious from the very first bell and showcased marked improvements after he successfully defended against the Chinese Wrestling Silver Medalist's takedown attempts.

He threw all of his punches and kicks with authority, and never showed any signs of losing steam all throughout the contest.

“It was worth it, especially that I had the chance to improve on my strengths and skills which was evident in my victory over Peng,” Miado stated.

“Not being overconfident, but I feel that I’m a different athlete now.”

After ending his 2018 on a high note, Miado pointed out that his scintillating triumph over Peng is just the beginning of more positive things to come.

“Strawweight is one of the deepest divisions in ONE Championship and there are so many great guys all wanting to get to the top,” he asserted.

“I know that I still have a long way ahead of me, but I have to keep winning so I can stay in the mix.”

Miado is set to return to action this Friday, 22 February as he will look to make it two in a row against former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke when they tangle once again at ONE: CALL TO GREATNESS, which takes place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Both men initially crossed paths in March 2018 at ONE: IRON WILL, where the heavy-handed Filipino striker knocked out the Thai legend just 81 seconds into their match-up.

It took just one right hand from Miado to end the evening for Dejdamrong, but with the quick win comes the doubters.

Miado will leave no stone unturned in proving that his victory over Dejdamrong nearly a year ago was not a fluke.

"My knockout victory over Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke proved that anything can happen in mixed martial arts. It also proved my ability to deliver a spectacular finish,” he declared.

“I aim to do just that again in Singapore.” 02/19/2019 (Runner Rocky)
