The Barefoot Monster Transforms to Spiderman in Finishing L2T

Running community's so-called Barefoot Monster Anthony Noriel Fodra successfully completed his first 60K ultramarathon in Luneta to Tagaytay (L2T), February 21, 2016 but with a 'superhero' twist. The barefoot monster transformed to spiderman as he approached the finish line!

On his last 12 kilometer in Tagaytay, Anthony or Tonying activated his barefoot monster title as he removed his shoes and completed the remaining distance barefooted. At the same time, he turned into a superhero wearing the red spiderman suit with shades!

Amidst the heat of the sun and rough roads of Tagaytay, Tonying still managed to continue, conquer the race, and finished the ultramarathon strong, with no injuries, and with flying color!

"Mainit, masakit sa paa 'ung aspalto sa Tagaytay pero kaya naman," Tonying updated me via text message during his last 12 kilometers where he turned as a barefoot spiderman.

The Transformation of Spiderman to Barefoot Hero

The race started in Kilometer Zero in Luneta, Quirino Grandstand in Manila at around 12:45 am of February 21. The cutoff time was 14 hours. Runners were expected to be at the finish line of People's Park in Tagaytay at 2:45 pm. But our very own barefoot monster managed to finish the race with a time of 11 hours and 27 minutes! Great!

The Luneta to Tagaytay ultramarathon is now on its 3rd successful year. It was organized by Prince Multisport. There were more runners who joined this year compared with last year. And I've witnessed that in the start line.

Yours truly Runner Rocky showed support to his bestfriend Anthony as well as his team, the running team Road and Trail Runners (RTR). But unfortunately because of personal appointment, I wasn't able to be with them in Tagaytay. :(

I've just enjoyed the moments with the RTR team in the start line in Luneta earlier before the gunstart. Well, as they say, Runner Rocky is an adopted son of RTR. On the other hand, Anthony is an adopted son of TRD. :)

Check out some of cool photos with the team before the gunstart:

The Luneta to Tagaytay 60K Ultramarathon is now Tonying's longest run so far and it marks as his first ultramarathon now qualifying him to the title of being an ultramarathoner!

After successfully finishing the race strong ahead of the cutoff time, Tonying posted an award-winning speech in Facebook. And it reads:

"The hardwork, determination, and my apssion in running already paid off...hawak ko na ang pinapangarap na trophy. Marahil iisipin ng iba na nagpapakahirap at gumagastos lang sa kakatakbo pero ang di nila alam ang naidudulot na kasiyahan na dala nito.

Thank you God for giving the strength that I need along my journey. Natapos ang race na walang injury. Thank you also sa mga kateam ko na sumuporta in any ways.

Hahaha..Ang drama..."

I commented, "pang-awards night ang speech mo bro!" And he replied, "ganyan talaga pag mula sa puso..."

After this L2T, this coming Sunday, February 28, 2016, Tonying is set again for another ultramarathon - the Tagaytay to Maragondon (T2M) 50K Ultramarathon. But this time, he will be in a two-man relay same with yours truly Runner Rocky. This will be our next fight after consecutive ultras and long distance runs. So get ready for another Runner Rocky and The Barefoot Monster's tandem next week!

Once more, congratulations Anthony, to the RTR team, and to all the successful finishers of this L2T ultramarathon! We salute you! (Runner Rocky)
