Kid Players of La Salle Greenhills Make a Three-Peat Win in the Ball Game!

The young athletes conquered the court! And the 'Greenies' made it again bagging the championship title!

So for today, let yours truly Runner Rocky be your court side reporter in bringing you the recent championship news of this basketball fight of the kids. Here's the story:

La Salle Greenhills had a successful year in the SBP-Passerelle as it remained the undefeated champion of the SBP division for the third consecutive year.

Now on its 32nd year, the SBP-Passerelle is the largest and longest-running twin tournaments in the country.

At the tournaments’ 32nd championship games held at the Cebu Coliseum, the LSGH Greenies, representing the National Capital Region (NCR), beat Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (Visayas), 66-51, for the title. Ferndale International School of Zamboanga, representing Mindanao, defeated Berkeley School of Baguio (Luzon), 57-36, for third place.

In the Passerelle division, San Beda College-Rizal (NCR) became the new champion after beating Holy Child of Davao (Mindanao), 68-51. Third placer was International School for Better Beginnings (Luzon), which defeated Hua Siong College of Iloilo (Visayas), 58-52.

More than a thousand young athletes participated in this year’s SBP-Passerelle twin tournaments.

SBP-Passerelle, which gives importance to fair play and discipline among participating students, as well as parents, coaches and school officials, presented the highly coveted sportsmanship award to Ferndale International School in the SBP division and San Beda College-Rizal in the Passerelle division.

“We are very lucky to have witnessed another year of passionate competition among these talented young individuals,” remarked Nicanor Jorge, former national coach and founder of BEST (Basketball Efficiency & Scientific Training) Center which organized this annual event. “It’s heart-warming to see their passion for the sports and their perseverance not only to winning but to doing their best for the team. We are proud to provide a venue for these future basketball champions to hone their competitive skills. We look forward to another great season next year.”

Organized by the country’s premier sports clinic, BEST Center, the 32nd SBP-Passerelle Twin Tournaments is supported by MILO, in cooperation with Rain or Shine Elasto Paints, Chris Sports, and SKLZ. It provides a venue for under 15 and under 12 age groups to apply what they learned in basketball training and showcase their skills.

BEST Center is a Hall of Famer of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) for Grassroots Development and the only corporate recipient of the Olympism Award from the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
